The Program of Follow the Dream Beauty Pageant Scholarship, Inc.

“Follow the Dream Beauty Pageant Scholarship, Inc.” is an annual event that provides young women with an opportunity to win a scholarship in order to continue their education. It is as much a journey as it is a destination.  We aim for all to be a winner, although only one “Follow the Dream” beauty contestant can be the final top prize winner.

Under the direction of Amalia Gohn, founder and Board President, young women are taught self-confidence to help prepare them for a successful entry into the workforce. By learning proper etiquette, poise, style of dress, and hair and make-up preparation, contestants gain valuable personal and professional skills that are generally not otherwise available to them.  Most critically, they learn the power of the dream.  They learn to energize their thoughts and actions towards achieving their goals and dreams.

While anyone will be able to benefit and learn from the Follow the Dream program via internet, social media and attending our final beauty contest event, we can accept only a limited number of applicants to participate in person.

We emphasize that beauty is not just the outer look but the inner thinking and attitude of our ladies.

Contestants are young women between the ages of 18 to 25 years old, who plan to further their education and who have graduated from high school or completed a GED program. Those meeting these requirements are invited to make use of the application form that comes with this website to actually compete in the annual contest.  And we encourage all dreamers, especially those in our target age range, to follow our program to follow your dreams.

Pageant participants are required to participate in several fundraisers throughout the year. This instills a spirit of volunteerism and the opportunity to give, as well as receive, from their community.

Such participation also instills self-confidence and poise in our contestants.  They see that their hard work in training and studying in our Follow the Dream program, has begun to pay off for them.  They see their inner and outer beauty being reflected in the eyes of those watching the Pageant.  They participate in an event which will be an unforgettable part of their lives, and for most of them the start of a more serious attitude about dreaming, achieving.

The contestants and those following the program learn the truth of the old saying, “anything the mind of man can conceive and believe, he can achieve.”

Parents, siblings, extended family and friends, are also encouraged to be involved in these activities to support the young woman’s candidacy.

Contestants display their skills in a beauty pageant conducted in front of a live audience and judged by a panel chosen from the local community. The highlight of the competition is the crowning of the Pageant winner.

The winner of the competition will receive a monetary scholarship payable to any institution or school of their choice. The scholarship must be utilized within two years.

The success of this annual scholarship program is largely due to the financial support of the community.  With the generosity of individuals and businesses in the area, the dream will become an enduring reality for young women seeking to better themselves through education.

Throughout the annual program, we do not influence and change the lives only of the contestants but rather, these girls find they are becoming actors on a grand stage which is influencing all those who become aware of their accomplishment, grown and progress in this Pageant experience.  Their growing self-confidence, and the combination of inner and outer beauty, influences everyone who reads about, follows, and in some cases actually attend the final Pageant.

The girls of Follow the Dream personify the adage, “success is the progressive realization of a worthy ideal.”
